The Independence Golf team has followed suit to Indy’s recent athletic success.

With a strong start to the season at 8-3, the team has managed to put itself on the radar. An unproven, yet eager team, this year seems like the perfect time to make a splash in upcoming tournaments.

Independence’s seniors will have to step up big in district play. Landry Johnson, senior Golf Team member, cites “consistency and poise” as keys to success for the team as a whole and for himself as an individual player. ┬áJohnson explains that they’ve had a strong start to the season and emphasizes the importance of carrying that momentum over into the district tournament.

“We are a competitor this year and plan on ending the season strong,” summarizes Adam Hallmark, another senior Golfer. Clearly not lacking confidence, it seems that Indy might surprise some people going forward seeing as they aren’t simply satisfied with their impressive regular season.

The District tournament starts next Tuesday, and I wouldn’t bet against our guys as they face the best in the state. With their seemingly “now or never” mentality, the sky is the limit for this squad.
