Independence offers a warm welcome to Lindsay Freese, junior and senior English teacher.

Freese comes all the way from Columbus, Ohio, where she taught at Hamilton High School and cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Freese is originally from West Palm Beach, Fla. she moved to Columbus as a teenager. Some things she misses are being able to study and get her homework completed while enjoying the beach. She also misses being able to wear flipflops year round and drive a golf cart to school.

Something that caught Freese off guard by  moving to the South is the “Southern manners.” She said she was “freaked out,” because she was not used to “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am.”

Some interesting things about Freese are that she is a good cook and she has a younger sister, who is a senior in high school. She is excited about Indy football, a cohesive staff and having great students at Independence. She wants to impact the students by instilling the enjoyment of learning and preparing the students for their lives.
