On Wednesday, February 1, Independence High School athletes will be sign to further their education and bump their sports careers onto the next level. We at IndyNow are very proud of these signees and  excited for the journey they have ahead.

The first signee is Landon Guidry who will commit to play football at Mississippi State.

Guidry said, “It seemed like the best option for me in every aspect. The school had everything I wanted, and it looks like I’ll get early playing time which is really exciting.”

Landon said he is the most excited for the SEC football aspect because you, “can’t beat that.” Guidry will study kinesiology.

Savannah Freeman will commit to play softball at Bevill State Community College in Sumiton, Alabama. She said that she thought “it was a good opportunity to play ball, and when I got the scholarship I didn’t want to waste the opportunity.”

She is most excited to go somewhere new and starting over, making a name for herself, and “make something of myself.”

Freeman hasn’t decided on a major yet but she is leaning toward law enforcement or athletic training.

Owen Murphy will be commit to Austin Peay’s football team. Murphy fell in love with the school “because the coaches are young and give opportunities to every player.”

He is also very excited to, “get to know all the players going there.” Murphy will major in business management.

Our last signee is Keller Makemson and she will play soccer at Montevallo University in Alabama.

Makemson said that she “fell in love with the campus and everyone was really friendly.”

Makemson will major in art

Everyone make sure to go out and watch our athletes sign to their future schools.
